The making of “The Shrine on High”

Commemorating the 100th anniversary of 200 East High Street being the chapter house of the Alpha Chapter of Beta Theta Pi, this painting was commissioned by The Forever Alpha Campaign via a gift by John H Stuckey ’66 and Thomas D Stuckey ’76.  Founded at Miami University in 1839, the rich tradition and history of Beta Theta Pi will be celebrated by nearly 300 alumni at the rededication of the extensively renovated chapter house October 19-21 in Oxford, Ohio.  “The Shrine on High” was the vision of a committed group of alumni and friends who were very supportive throughout the process.  When this painting was started in the spring of 2018, a construction fence was surrounding the property and the present appearance of the property was only a vision.  Hundreds of alumni contributed to this multi-million dollar renovation and the results are stunning.  Acknowledgement to the leaders of The Forever Alpha Campaign for their vision and belief in this extraordinary renovation.  Likewise, commissioning a painting of a “work in progress” illustrates their belief and extraordinary commitment to this project.  Reference photographs were taken during each step of the renovation process as the building exterior and landscaping were completed.  The last reference photo, of the Beta Dragons was received the day they were installed, September 28th.  That evening, “The Shrine on High” was completed.

Archival, titled and signed lithographs are available.
