The Blue Angels celebrate 75 years
On April 24th, 1946 the Blue Angels formed to be the U.S. Navy's flight demonstration team. The Blues typical perform over 60 airshows annually across North America for over 10 million spectators. This year we celebrate the 75th year of the Blue Angels inspiring millions nationwide.
25 Years ago, the original painting "Showtime" was created to commemorate their 50th Anniversary. It was created in collaboration with the Blue Angels to capture the essence of this magnificent flight demonstration team. On September 10, 1996, on the tarmac in Pensacola, David Myers presented Captain Greg Wooldridge and the Blue Angel pilots with the first eight lithographs of the limited edition. This painting traveled with the Blue Angels and was exhibited at various air shows across the country.
Today the original painting Showtime can be seen at the gallery in Westerville. Congratulations to the Blue Angels and their great tradition.
